A WEALTH OF HISTORY DISCOVERED -
BENEATH THE FLOORS

Beneath the floors of Local Roots lies the Little Basement Museum.

From the old well which reaches down some twenty feet below shop level, to the mass of clay pipes and even a complete two foot tall vase, the Little Basement Museum contains a wealth of history carefully excavated and displayed over the past thirty years.

The shop has seen many traders over its long history. The photograph (top right) taken early in the 20th Century shows the buidling as a seed and corn merchants. In recent years it has been a water sports shop and prior to that a cafe. Sitting empty for the past fifteen years the shop has now been lovingly restored to become Local Roots.

Ask in the shop for more information about the Little Basement Museum.
